Turbo Kit

If ya go with a big enough turbo it wll make over 1000rwhp.

now if ya notice my truck was or is on there site, I was the guiney pig, and they blew number three piston out for me.

with that said, the kit is pretty good, but you willl need to upgrade the turbo to at least a 76mm, then you gonna need to upgrade your rods and pistons at the very least, even for the small turbo they have listed. Carrilllo makes drop in rods, and diamond or je makes pistons.
then ya gonna need a fuel system, pump, injectors, rails, lines.
then and engine controller, vec or aem
then a good clutch.

you can attempt it with a stock piston set up, but jsut DO NOT go over 5 psi

which reminds me , your gonna need a boost controller most of all

HOLY CRAP!!! Just curious cause I have one found for $3500 with the intercooler. So it could be used on a stock motor if you stay under 5 psi? What else exactly would you have to have??

dude I would talk with Joe up in st louis first, but you should be ok with only 5 psi, the stock injectors may work fine, but a pump would be needed

Kyle I gotta hit the sac, left gorgia tuesday nite, then to dallas now in denver colorado:eek: freakin tired, but find out what size turbo it is, and give me a call tommorrow, 704-214-7849, leave a message, I have had horrible service for two days taking back roads;) , but go above denver tommorrow then probably to topeka

I use a GT-40 on my isuzu. those are some good turbos. I think a gt-42 might be a little small for the viper motor though. it will be pretty maxxed out, but that might be ok if you're looking for a quick spoolup.

i agree i think the turbo will run out a gt 40 huh? what mm is that and what is the displacment on your isuzu? just curious:)

Kyle with everything you have done with your truck if you need even more power...............go paxton or Roe. Turbos have proven to be very costly here on our motors.

can you elaborate...thanks

Well, Flyinglow is I think the only survivor of an STS turbo on this site or the one before (nfff site). I believe like 6 of them blew up........some twice!! Walt had major problems with a JH build which if I remember correctly was a $100k build!!! Stinker then is the only member I can think of that has a working turbo setup..........and his build has been a long and arduous one as well. He can elaborate on it.

From memory, we havent lost a engine to a paxton yet and possibly a roe as well. Not sure about onefast's deal.

Turbos dont have a great history with our trucks...........do your research before you spend your cash. There are a several members here with lots of great info whom have already spent the cash and make big power............me I just read and try to learn from them.

Having my truck for three years now...............I cringe when somebody mentions putting a turbo on their truck. I am happy for Tony...........but man he was frustrated for a long time......................and all the other guys, Walt, Big Asp, Ramfromhell etc....... it hurt me when their trucks blew up, I felt so bad for them. Big Asp's, his blew up twice!!! Holy shit can you imagine how he felt? I would have been so depressed. He was a cool member too, and I dont even know it he is around anymore.

Big Asp is on a mission over in Korea.  He will be back.

Turbos on our trucks have a bad rep because of the poor tuning or tuning software that has been used with them (STS especially). If you want the most power out of a single power adder, it will turbo(s), without a doubt. Look at the viper car market, 99% of people making over 1K WHP (some over 1500WHP) are sucessfully using a turbo setup of some kind.

As much as I agree with you, the problem is that all of those 1,000 HP motors are also built motors. I had the STS and it was a tuning nightmare. The nice and easy thing about a super charger is the linear power and hence the easy of tuning. You are not going to hit full boost at 2,000 rpms with a paxton supercharger, so you don't have to tune for that...which was without a doubt one of the larger the problems with the STS...not to mention the over boosting problem. If I had it to do all over again, I would have spent my thousand and thousands of dollars on a Paxton (then maybe I wouldn't have wasted another grand on dyno tuning)...but that is water under the bridge now.

I believe we've lost an engine or two from Paxtons. Can't recall who (maybe Blakewilder was one?).

also, don't use any supplemental fuel injectors. upgrade the fuel system the right way and you should be ok. turbos are easy to tune, but if you have fuel flowing unevenly into various cylinders, there isn't anything a tune will do to help you.
