Ok I purchased a pair of 05 front calipers from PortlandSRT (Thanks very much brutha) and would like to know part numbers if possible (ie brake lines, and misc items) of what I need to complete the swap. FYI - I'm getting new drilled and slotted rotors and pads so I don't need part numbers for those.

Also I know I should have asked this question earlier, but are the 05 calipers direct bolt-ons on to the 04's?

Thanks in advance.

Now start posting.

All front brake parts. Cut and pasted so kind of hard to read.:dontknow:
First # disregard (picture #), Part #, amount needed, description.

If you need something I missed just ask. :questionmark:

looks to me like the part numbers are not the same:dontknow:

I just found out that the spindle and the knuckle are the same so the caliper should mount right up, but will keep you guys posted. I have (1QCKSRT) Mickey coming down to pay me a visit in the next couple of weeks. He has all the diagrams with part numbers. So I'm going to take of my wheel when he's here and we'll look at my existing set up and verify what we're going to need. So far it looks like the only difference will be the brake lines. I'll keep you guys posted on the progress and once its complete I'll take some pics once complete, but if anyone has done this before please post up and let me know which parts I need to complete the upgrade.

This will be one nice upgrade for all of us that have 2004's if all we need to do is change the brake lines and pads.

I have to ask, why bother changing the front brakes? The 05s don't stop any quicker than the 04s. Yes I know one has more pistons than the other, but that in and of itself does not make a real difference.

There has been more than one person that owned both at the same time, and they all reported that they stopped the same.

If it makes you happy do it, but don't expect a night and day difference.

Bill.

I'm not expecting a night and day difference, but will have better performance than the 2004 calipers none the less. Added bonus they're going to look much nicer than the 2004.

Keep us posted.

Just a personal quirk of mine, but I think the smaller 04 calipers looked better.:dontknow:

The main drawback to the 05's to me are the dull and clunky looking bolts. Can they be painted/polished/chromed ?

PICS ! :D

Have to agree:D drove trucks with both types of brakes at the SRT Drive thingy:rock: The big difference was the (05)BIMBO ;) brakes faded twice as fast and had the feel of a sponge:( The other thing that is nice about the 04's is that you can get them most anywhere as they are of a Ram 3500:D

I've got the pair and i'm thinking about swapping. Do i have to do anything to a brake lines?
