2nd place in my household that is! Went to Famoso on Friday May 16, 2014 with the CTS V for a Test and Tune. Wasn't expecting a super great time because the temp was at 100 degrees that day. Since I last reported my best in Feb (with the DA at 60') and I ran an 11.70 @ 121.4 with an Airaid, Tune, Ported TB and drag radials. Earlier in the week we added a ZL1 lid, 9.5" lower pulley, LS9 cam and springs, 850 injectors and Kooks long tubes into the stock muffler. Car is totally stealth, quiet, idles like factory and drives like a dream. Oh, did I mention it now has 635 rwhp.

Made 4 passes, first pass the car was very warm, 3 beginners in front of me and trying to learn how to stage their awesome Rice Rockets (FWD 15 sec monsters) while I sat there and idled getting heat soaked. Never the less I broke my speed record (121.4 mph for the CTS V) on each pass. Here's the results:

Run 1: 8:38pm, Temp 90, DA 2911', 60' 1.885, 1/8th 7.707 @ 95.67 mph, 1/4 mile 11.800 @ 121.64 mph.

Run 2: 10:08 pm, Temp 80, DA 2285', 60' 1.719, 1/8th 7.353 @ 96.94 mph, 1/4 mile 11.412 @ 122.76 mph.

Run 3: 11:02 pm, Temp 79, DA 2188', 60' 1.669, 1/8th 7.324 @ 97.72 mph, 1/4 mile 11.347 @ 124.25 mph.

Run 4: 11:50 pm, Temp 73, DA 1794', 60' 1.626, 1/8th 7.179 @ 98.23 mph, 1/4 mile 11.180 @ 124.96 mph!

Not impressed. I know a guy who went almost that fast with an SRT10 that had an almost totally stock engine and just a couple weight reduction mods. Clearly the SRT10 is a better value, right Bradley? :D

Congrats Jerry!!

This is why I bought another V! Can't wait to see how it pulls with an extra 100rwhp!!

BTW: Mine is the same color just 2 extra doors...:D

i think you need to figure out how much more HP is needed to be .181 seconds faster :D
I don't think I'll need much more horsepower. I just need the DA to be better, say this fall or next Feb with the DA about 0-100'. I am still planning one more mod besides maybe a better heat exchanger for cooling the intercooler fluids. I want to rebuild the 6-speed, and lower my current 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear ratios from 2.66, 1.78 and 1.30 respectively to 3.02, 2.07 and 1.43. I think the drop in gears will make the car come alive, kinda like having some 4.10 gears instead of 3.73's...only better. After that I have no doubt I will be in the high 10's with a very quiet, stealthy Cadillac with the upper pulley still stock size (that's what everybody looks for).....heh heh, and if they notice the headers...then I will admit to that....otherwise it's all stock except for the Airaid CAI. I'm just an innocent Grampa with his slow Cadillac....please don't pick on me....anyway in a few months this will once again be my slowest vehicle......stay tuned for the NA SRT-10 Ram and the 2000 Firehawk (434 cubic inch LS1 , NA 700 HP, 6-speed, light!!!!, manual steering and brakes, Alum Ford 9" carrier, 4.56 gears...etc) coming.:D

Great times, Jerry. How is your 10 doing?

I believe the engine is out. Just waiting for the Darton Wet Sleeves to arrive and machine the block. Cam is ordered, heads are back to Greg Good for assembly. That's all for now.

Yep, just some better DA and you'll be in the 10s.

Good to see more CTSV's on the board!
